Information We Collect

When you use InternshipUncle, we collect information necessary to provide our internship preparation services. We only collect what we need — nothing more.

Note: We do not collect sensitive personal data such as payment card numbers, government IDs, or biometric data.

How We Use Your Data

Every piece of data we collect serves a clear purpose tied to making your internship preparation better. We do not sell your data to advertisers or third parties.

Provide and personalize all core features: Discover, Analyze, Resume Lab, Interview Prep, and Dashboard.
Power AI-driven features such as resume roasting, JD analysis, mock interview scoring, and the "Uncle Verdict" fit assessment.
Calculate and display your readiness score and track your progress over time.
Match job listings to your profile and target roles to improve recommendation relevance.
Send essential notifications such as deadline reminders for saved internships (only if you enable them).
Diagnose crashes and technical issues to improve app stability and performance.
Comply with legal obligations where applicable.

Section 03

AI & Third-Party Services

InternshipUncle uses AI models and third-party infrastructure to deliver its core features. When you use AI-powered tools (resume roast, mock interview, JD analysis), relevant content — such as your resume text or a job description — is processed by these services to generate a response.

All AI calls are made from our secure backend (Supabase Edge Functions). Your API keys and credentials are never exposed to the client app. Third-party providers are bound by their own privacy policies and data processing agreements.

Section 04

Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored on Supabase's secure cloud infrastructure. We apply the following protections:

All data is encrypted in transit using TLS 1.2+.
Authentication tokens use secure, short-lived JWTs managed by Supabase Auth.
Row-Level Security (RLS) policies ensure you can only access your own data.
API keys and secrets are stored server-side only and are never sent to the app.
Uploaded resume files are stored in private Supabase Storage buckets, accessible only to your account.

While we implement strong safeguards, no system is 100% immune to security incidents. If a breach affects your data, we will notify you promptly in accordance with applicable laws.

Section 05

Your Rights

You have full control over your personal data. You may exercise any of these rights at any time by contacting us:

Access — Request a copy of all data we hold about you.
Correction — Update or correct inaccurate information in your profile.
Deletion — Request permanent deletion of your account and all associated data.
Export — Request your data in a portable, machine-readable format.
Restriction — Ask us to stop processing certain data while a dispute is resolved.
Opt-out — Disable non-essential notifications at any time from the app's Settings screen.

We will respond to all data rights requests within 30 days. Account deletion requests are processed within 7 days of confirmation.

Section 06

Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service. Specific retention periods:

Account and profile data is retained for the lifetime of your account.
Uploaded resumes and generated resume versions are kept until you delete them or close your account.
Mock interview session history and scores are retained for 12 months of inactivity, then purged.
App usage and analytics data is aggregated and anonymized after 90 days.
Upon account deletion, all personally identifiable data is removed within 7 days. Aggregated, anonymized data may persist for service improvement.

Section 07

Children's Privacy

InternshipUncle is designed for students aged 16 and above. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 years of age.

If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, please contact us immediately at privacy@internshipuncle.com and we will delete the account and all associated data promptly.

Section 08

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as our product evolves. When we make material changes, we will:

Update the "Effective" date at the top of this page.
Notify you via an in-app notice or email for significant changes.
Give you reasonable time to review the changes before they take effect.

Continued use of the app after the effective date of any update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
